Antique tractor show set for June 12

KINGWOOD — The Preston County Antique Tractor and Machinery Association will sponsor a show of antique farm tractors and machinery June 12 at the Roberts Family Convenience Store one mile west of Kingwood.

On display will be many makes and models of tractors used on farms 50-to-100 years ago. Some of these tractors will be restored to new condition, while some may still be in their "working clothes."

Although primitive in size and style compared to modern-day tractors and equipment, they were able to accomplish the task of feeding the people of America.

Also on display will be threshing machines, including the flail and groundhog thresher built around 1850. Other forms of antique equipment on display will include a horse-drawn riding cultivator used for cornfields, grain cleaners, corn shellers, a pedal-operated grindstone, washing machines, butter churns and more.

Admission to the event is free, but there will be a donation box and application forms for membership for anyone wanting help the cause of preserving farm heritage. Anyone who may have antique tractors or equipment and would like to display them are welcome to do so.
