PEELING potatoes can be a time consuming task, but there's a way you can speed it up.

A TikToker revealed the easy feature you've been overlooking on your potato peeler.

TikTok user Lor, who runs the account Lor182, shared a video of her daughter discovering the hidden feature on a potato peeler.

The video shows one of Lor's daughters peeling a potato and demonstrating how to use the knob at the end of the peeler.

Holding the potato close to the camera, Lor's daughter used the tip of the potato peeler to easily remove an eye from the vegetable.

The eye of the potato refers to the small buds on the surface of the food, from which additional plants will grow in the right conditions.

The TikToker's daughter simply dug the eye out with the curved tip of the potato peeler.

"So what's the point in taking it out?" asked Lor's other daughter as she watched her sister demonstrate the hack.

Her sister explained: "So there's no peels in the mashed potato, who wants peels in mashed potatoes?"

TikTok users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the revelation.

"So you’re not suppose to peel away half the potato just to get that?" joked one viewer.

Another follower wrote: "WHAT I’ve just been peeling those spots off....my whole life."
